Laboratory

Florida’s humid environment poses unique design challenges for these types of facilities which JLRD has tackled head-on, as exemplified in the LEED Gold certification of the 70,000 sf FAU/UF Joint-Use Teaching and Research Laboratory.

JLRD understands the importance of reliable, robust, energy efficient mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection laboratory systems for vivariums, bioscience level isolation rooms, biology, chemistry, high speed computing, as well as clean rooms for automated high throughput screening. The 24/7 year-round need for air conditioning, as well as the ever changing research requirements demand highly adaptable, energy-efficient MEP & FP systems.

FAU/Scripps Joint-Use Facility

FAU/Scripps

Needing to quickly construct a temporary on-campus research lab for the Scripps Research Institute while their new Florida headquarters was being designed and constructed, JLRD was selected by Florida Atlantic University to serve as the project's M/E/P/FP engineers. With time being of the essence, a new multi-use facility was designed and constructed in only 13 months.
